Today, The Sky is Weeping (A Poem)
Updated: Aug 20
There was a time when I told my children
That war was long ago
But today, death tolls give way,
Staining February snow.
Today, the sky is weeping
Torrents flood our feeds and farms
Terrors rage on this splattered page
And fathers take up arms.
There was a time when I told my children,
To dream, all will be well
But how can we rest when the golden crest
Becomes a living hell?
Is there no peace for our generation?
No cease of hate and crime?
Is there no reprieve for this nation?
Where will the white dove sleep this time?
Today, I'll tell my children
To LIVE while there’s still Light
For no one knows how swiftly grows
The deepening of night.
